What is P90X?
P90X is an extreme 90 day fitness program developed by workout guru Tony Horton and Beachbody. This intense home exercise program combines cardio workouts, weight and resistance training, yoga, plyometrics, and stretching routines to improve coordination, flexibility, and strength.
No workout program would be complete without a healthy and effective nutrition plan, and this system delivers. The P90X Nutrition Plan is a 3-phase eating program (Fat Shredder, Energy Booster, and Endurance Maximizer) that was specifically designed to work in tandem with the exercise routines. It provides the optimum combination of health food needed to satisfy the body’s increased energy requirements each step along the way.
Who is Tony Horton?
you see someone like Tony Horton in action you immediately assume that he has great pre-disposition for a buff body. You might be quick to think that “bringing it” has always come easy for Tony. The truth is that Tony Horton had to work for that beach body just like the rest of us. Like many kids, Tony grew up loving fast food and dreading exercise. Horton was a typical bony “weakling” and probably never thought he would bring a fitness phenomenon like Power 90 or P90X to the world. Not even interested in sports, being a fitness icon was never at the front of Horton’s mind.
One thing Tony did like was acting, so no one was surprised when Horton moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream after graduating from the University of Rhode Island. He quickly realized in Los Angeles, it pays to be fit. That’s when Tony’s quest for fitness began. Horton joined the famous World Gym in Venice and began transforming his body. Studious by nature, Tony read books and asked questions of the pros at the gym gaining insight into what would one day become his own claim to fame.
Tony became a personal fitness trainer in Santa Monica, California. He has also been the official spokesman for Nordic Track and his techniques have appeared in Men’s Fitness Magazine.
Tony met Carl Daikeler, the president of Beachbody, in 1996 and became his personal trainer. Their business partnership began after Carl experienced dramatic results thanks to Tony’s personal training plan.
Is P90X Any Good?
It’s no secret that many people are having success with the P90X workout program. All you have to do is search for reviews and you find people reporting their ‘amazing transformations’.
Second to that though, if you are doing so many different workouts, you aren’t going to get bored. What’s the single biggest reason people fail with their workout program (P90X or otherwise)? Failure to stick with it.

Is P90X Worth The Price?
Of Course that is really up to you if you think P90X is worth the price, but let me address this from my own experience and thinking. I have tried online programs, gyms, and now a home workout video. Each one has its strengths and weakness.
The gym
Let me start off by saying that I really love gyms. I don’t love all gyms but I do love gyms. They have a lot of benefits and carry better equipment than I can buy and purchase.
The one thing I noticed in my own life is it is hard to stay motivated unless you have someone that will go with you and hold you accountable. You do get to meet new people in gyms and that could be that person, but most of the time we have our ear buds in and feel a little weird if someone comes up and just starts talking to us.
My Success with a gym has always come when I had someone to workout with me and push me. When we did it together I have seen huge gains and great results. However those times only last for so long, because now I am relying on someone else as well as myself to succeed. That can only last so long and I end up spending huge amounts of money for five to six month results.
Not to mention unless you find a hole in the wall you are dropping a large sum of money on sign up fees, processing fee, and then paying monthly payments. All this goes to pay the salesmen and gadgets you may never use. You are basically paying for a lot of things you don’t need and perhaps may never use. To tell you the truth I hate the process and get upset every time I go through it. I now live in an area that I have a free gym which is very nice, and I still use my own gym that has almost none of the things the free gym has. I will tell you why later.
The other problem with joining a gym is that you miss the most important part of any weight loss or fitness program you do. Eating! Eating to get results. There is little accountability and or knowledge when it comes to learning how to eat. If your not eating right you will never see the results you want.
Online Diet Programs
These Programs are great to gain ideas and record what you are doing at home or in a gym. It could also be the support you need with a gym, the accountability to eat right. However, that is just another monthly fee.
I have had some results in learning how to eat and prepare food by joining online programs. I also like the online boards that have people doing the same things as I am. It seems to help to have these people with you. It provides a greater bit of accountability because there is more than one person and if one drops there are fifty to take their place.
I would recommend these programs and even have two as sponsors at Fitness Village. We like “The Biggest Loser” and we just picked up “Jillian Michaels”. We also promote “The Best Life” that showed Opera how to loose weight. When it comes to gaining knowledge and ideas on “how” to lose weight, online programs are great. But again you are paying a monthly fee and need some self motivation to see ongoing results. You will end up paying several hundred over the course of a year.
P90X
I have to say in my own experience, this is the best product on the market. It takes everything that is positive from online programs or gyms and places it into one product.
It is the only product that I use on a consistent basis and it is the only product that has given me lasting results. I lost over ten inches in 90 days…not only lost inches but toned my body.
If you go with P90X you get 12 different workouts. One problem I always had in the gym was I kept working through the same moves and after five months or so it just got old. Even when i mixed it up it still got old.
I get bored easy and need a change of pace from time to time, P90X allowed for that change of pace. I was also attracted to it because I wanted to try Plyometrics, Yoga, and Kenpo. Those were parts of my workout that I never had, and I wanted to learn it the right way.
The 12 workouts are, Chest and Back, Plyometrics, Arms and shoulders, Yoga, Legs, Kenpo, Ab Xer, X Stretch, Core Synergetic, Chest, Shoulders, Triceps-Back and Biceps, Cardio X.
That Alone is Crazy!
The thing about having a guy who has over 20 years experience in training others to results, is that no matter how you feel, he keeps you honest. This isn’t some guy doing aerobics on a screen, you are drawn in and feel like you are working out with buds. I know it sounds crazy but its what happens. So no matter what kind of day you had, Tony is going to push you and keep you moving at a great pace. It is a high level of accountability.
P90X also gives you online support. Let me be honest and up front with you. I am a coach at Million Dollar Body! What that means is that they get the money for the sale of the product and immediately sets you up with a coach. Once you contact the coach they assign you…they help you through the program…as much or as little as you need. Coaches are there to encourage you, if you falter or fail we don’t judge or berate but encourage and help you get restarted. There is no other program doing this stuff.
The coaches are people who have gone through the program and had success, they are committed to helping others get those same results. So yes, if you wanted me to be a coach, you would purchase the product and say I want Coach Phill as my coach. That is two l’s on Phill, and bam, I will be there to help you. You don’t have to use the coaches, but they are there to help!
Not only are you hooked up with a coach but you have an incredible online support of message boards, fitness kitchen with video cooking class, trainers showing you the moves on video, other success stories, and monthly newsletters that have great information from people who have been in the business for ever.
They also have this game called the Million Dollar Body Game. They give away a million dollars a year. Every day people are winning $100-200-300 or more a day just by logging in and recording there workouts. You can also submit your results every month and win up to $1000-10,000-or more a month. It is crazy!
Like that is not enough, sounds like a sales pitch! They also have this great eating plan. It is called the P90X Nutrition Plan and is probably the most vital part of your overall success. It is specifically designed to work in tandem with the P90X routines, this 3-phase eating plan provides the perfect combination of foods to satisfy your body’s energy needs every step of the way.
P90X is not about quick fixes or miracle diets. It’s about selecting the healthy foods that you WANT to eat, and determining the portion amounts that will provide your body with the right amount of fuel to excel during exercise. Identifying what, when, and how much to eat so you can lose fat and still get into incredible shape is the goal of this nutrition plan.
The fact is, you are capable of achieving awesome results if you follow this eating plan as designed. For many, this may be the toughest exercise, but it is absolutely essential to succeed in this program. Why Diet Matters

Now if you ask me if that is worth 120 dollars I would have to say YES. If you compare the product to any other thing you will buy over the course of a year, it is cheaper, and you will receive more than what anyone else is offering, not to mention the opportunity to actually win money if you sign up for their online program.

Power 90 Workout Review
Power 90 was created in 2001 by fitness expert Tony Horton along with Beachbody, a fitness company dedicated to delivering at-home workout routines. Power 90 was instantly successful and today remains just about the most popular at-home physical fitness programs on the market.
Lrt’s take a brief look at the Power 90 workout itself: This 90 day workout is built to pass you through 4 stages of gradually escalating intensity as you cycle through six different workout routines. These workouts contain two ‘Sculpt Circuit’ workouts, two ‘Sweat Cardio’ workouts and two ‘Ab Ripper’ regimens. The responsibility is on the you to make the decision when you’re ready to move from one difficulty level to the next; Power 90 clearly states that you will need to take note of your body and progress at your own speed.
The actual workouts can be brief. The longestt – Sculpt and Sweat workouts range from 30 to 40 minutes, while the ab routines are very brief, running from 4 to 6 minutes. Sweat Cardio starts out with yoga as a warm up, after which continues into a variety of cardio exercises including martial art moves that culminate in a stretch/yoga cool off. The Sculpt Circuit also starts with some stretching and easy yoga, after which proceeds through a weight resistance regimen which is demonstrated with both free weights and resistance bands. As a result, they progress through a mix diverse styles and workouts consissting of 40 minute durations.
What is immediately clear upon reviewing these workout routines is that they don’t have high intensity or production values. The facility is a dull, featureless studio space and you will surely want your special music playing to help keep you pumped. The routines themselves are simply not as extreme as those in other workout dvd’s,the workouts are brief and the exercises will fit within the upper limits of most people’s comfort levels.
Is this a bad thing? No. Naturally working with a good-looking stage with all the props and effects other workout dvd’s offer is more impressive, but that has nothing to do with the quality of the workout. The only real result such a goofy setup has is to make it near impossible to take the workouts seriously. However, anybody who’s serious about getting physical results should be capable of look past this early version of a Beachbody product made when this company was still beginning, and focus on the workouts themselves.
Power 90 is the best package for all those learning how to run, but not adopting an Olympic marathon routine. This is where Power 90’s mild intensity level is needed. While you may push your workouts to your maximum and thus achieve greater results, Power 90 is a more flexible routine that lends itself to a greater variety of athletes and non-athletes
In summary: the principles behind Power 90 are sound. When you keep to the workouts as well as the nutrition guidebook for 90 days, you will realize impressive results. The degree of results will be based on your dedication and effort; Power 90 will tell you how one can attain them, however it you will fail if yyou don’t do the exercises and eat properly. Power 90 is the logical precursor to other popular workout dvd’s and should be seen as a challenging routine for all people interested in going from a beginning or mid-level of fitness to a more advanced point. What is expected on your part is that you put aside ego and pride and ask yourself where you are at, and how best to realize the results you desire. Some athletes can jump right into the favorite workout dvd’s while the rest folks must earn that level of requisite fitness. That is exactly where Power 90 fits into the picture.

5 Ways to Start Your Personal Fitness Program

The most common challenge that people I talk to face is how to incorporate fitness into their lives. They know they have to do something to get in shape but they really don’t know how. It can be discouraging because of the abundance of information out there. So much that you may not know where to begin.
Our society has so many food choices that it is easy to pack on the extra pounds. Also our day to day jobs are less physical as they where 100 years ago so we have more sedentary life styles. We know there are benefits involved when we exercise and cleaning up or diet. However, most of us know don’t know how or where to start.
So where do we begin? Or is the question: How do we begin?
The very first thing you need do is go to your doctor and get the approval to start exercising. Your doctor may also provide some helpful tips as well.
After you get the “OK” from your doctor, try these 5 things to help you get started:
Make the Choice to Start Exercising and Eating Right
Making the decision to do something provides a form of commitment you made to your self. Deciding that you need to change behavior creates new possibilities. When you say to your self “I need to get in shape”, it means something. You should be answering these questions in your mind: When can I work out? What exercises do I need to do? What foods should I be eating? Make your self think about the commitment you just made. Only then you can let go of the past and take steps to move forward.
Write Down What You Do
You need a reference that is realistic towards your weekly activity. Write down everything you do during the week. This should include work hours, commuting hours, nights spent with your spouse, your child’s activities and anything else you can think of that you do. You should also include what you do on weekends. You should make a list for each day of the week. Here’s why…..
Some people set lofty goals like working out for 2 hours a day. This can be due to an old saying, “More is Better”. However, this is not the case. Knowing your schedule will help you set realistic goals and help you find a few hours a week to start exercising. You’ll have a visual perspective on what you can and can’t do with your routine.
Research and Get Information
Most people do not have enough information before they start a work out program. So how do we get the information we need? The good news is we live in the information age. Take advantage of your favorite search engine and learn a little bit about fitness and nutrition. However, do not go overboard and lose focus. Find a source of information you like and take notes. Find the simplest and easiest workouts and nutrition tips. Don’t over load yourself with information.
If you have the money, hire a personal trainer for a few sessions to help you get started. Hiring a personal trainer is a great way to get started because you have made a commitment to meet someone to workout. Your goal is to have the trainer show you the basics on exercise and eating healthier. It may also be safer to learn how to perform the exercises (especially if you have not exercised for a while).
Create a Simple Plan and Set Realistic Goals
Keep it Simple! Following a simple plan while on a hectic schedule is much easier than following an elaborate plan. You should have a plan of which days you want to work out and one goal to change your eating habits for the next few weeks. For example, “I will work out for a half an hour for 3 days this week. I will eat a little less each meal.” Simple is success.
Execute Your Plan
Now that you have a plan, all you need to do is follow it. This is another big step. You should look at your plan every day upon waking. You need be mentally prepared for the great day ahead of you. Having your daily schedule in hand will help you achieve your goals for the day. When you complete your workout for the day, highlight it or cross it off your list. It will show you that you accomplished something for yourself. No matter what you must execute. This will be the hardest (and most rewarding) step.
I hope these things help you get started on a new life of physical fitness. Life is filled with making decisions, knowing your commitments, getting information, planning and execution. Try these approaches for yourself and you will see that having your own workout and nutrition program is not as far fetched or complicated as you think.

P90X – Does This Extreme Workout Work?
Everyone has seen the commercials for P90X: it is the latest workout craze. The TV shows hard bodied people claiming they were skeptical, but they decided to give the system a go. And of course it shows their flabby bodies in before pictures. So the big question is naturally “Does it work?”
Judging from the glowing testimonials that can be found all around the web, the answer has to be a resounding yes, with a bit of a caveat. The caveat is that if you are not a disciplined person who knows at least a little about sticking to a tough regimen already, then you are probably not well advised to try out P90X. This is because it is a very rigorous routine. I suspect that some might even view it as potentially dangerous for someone who is seriously out of shape. If a person like this were to take up P90X then they would be in over their head. In this case, most reviewers advise going on a different routine for a couple months, and only then should you possibly venture into P90X Land.

Is this the picture that the commercial paints? Well, I’d have to say that it’s pretty honest. P90X doesn’t try to paint itself as an easy solution. It looks more akin to joining the army! “Can you take it!? Are you ready?”
In the end, I would have to say that P90X is not for everyone. It is for those who have been around the workout scene for a while, but have maybe lost some of their former luster. For them, this is a great opportunity to buckle down and get back in tip top shape.
